Overview
Your journal is never our data. Peppers has no accounts and no servers of ours. We cannot read your journal. The app reports a small set of anonymous usage events, such as a paywall being viewed or a trial starting, so we can improve the product. Those events are not linked to your identity and never contain anything you record.
Your journal
Everything you record in Peppers is stored on your device. If your device is signed into iCloud, your journal syncs through your own private iCloud database, encrypted under your Apple Account on Apple's infrastructure. We have no access to it. Deleting the app and its iCloud data permanently removes your journal.
What you record may include health-related information. Our architecture is the safeguard: journal content is never transmitted to us or to any third party we engage, so we cannot read, sell, share, or lose it.
Health information
We do not collect consumer health data as defined by applicable health privacy laws, including the Washington My Health My Data Act. Entries describing substances, doses, or schedules remain on your device and in your private iCloud database, and are never part of any event or signal sent to us or our service providers.
Anonymous usage events
The app sends event names, such as "calendar opened" or "trial started," to PostHog (analytics processing) and subscription state to RevenueCat (subscription management), in each case under a randomly generated anonymous identifier. Peppers has no accounts, so no name, email address, or contact information exists in the Service that could be associated with these events. Journal content is never included. Under App Store privacy definitions, this is "Data Not Linked to You."
Purchases
Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your payment details. RevenueCat processes anonymous subscription state on our behalf so we can operate the business. Apple's privacy policy governs the payment transaction.
Ad attribution
If you discovered Peppers through an Apple Ads placement, Apple's on-device attribution may inform the app which campaign led to the install; that information stays on your device. The app also reports anonymized conversion values (for example, that a trial started) through Apple's privacy-preserving ad attribution framework. These signals contain no journal content and no identity.
Reminders
Reminders are scheduled locally on your device and never leave it.
This website
getpeppers.app uses cookieless analytics (PostHog) limited to page views and a click on the App Store badge. No cookies are set, no identifiers are stored on your device, and no profile is created. Website visits cannot be connected to you or to anything in the app.
Data retention
Anonymous usage events and subscription state are retained by our processors for as long as needed for analytics and subscription operations, and are deleted or aggregated in accordance with their retention policies. Your journal is retained only by you, on your device and in your iCloud database, until you delete it.
Your rights
We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not use it for cross-app tracking or targeted advertising. Because usage events are anonymous, we have no way to identify which events belong to you, and therefore cannot retrieve or delete them on a per-person basis; this inability to identify you is itself the protection. You can delete all data under your control at any time by deleting your journal entries or the app and its iCloud data. Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act; where those laws apply, our processing of anonymous events rests on our legitimate interest in operating and improving the Service. Children
The Service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Security
Data in transit between the app, our processors, and Apple is encrypted using industry-standard TLS. Your journal is protected by the security of your device and your Apple Account, including Apple's encryption of your private iCloud database.
International transfers
Our service providers process anonymous events in the United States. By using the Service you understand that these anonymous, non-identifying events are processed there.
Export
CSV export creates a file on your device, and you choose where to send it. Peppers itself does not transmit exported files anywhere.
Changes
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. The commitment above is structural to the product: no accounts, and no access to your journal.
